The England international has signed a three-year deal which will keep her with Andrée Jeglertz’s side until the summer of 2029.
Upon her arrival at the Joie Stadium, she already has 17 honours to her name and was named in the 2023/24 PFA WSL Team of the Year, joining a City side who completed the Barclays Women’s Super League and FA Cup double in 2025/26.
The 27-year-old will be our new number 21 during her time at the Club, a shirt she wore during her time at Chelsea and often when representing the Lionesses.
She becomes the sixth owner of the shirt in our professional era, the most recent wearer being our record goalscorer, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw.
The first to wear the shirt, though, was goalkeeper Andrea Worrall, who was part of our first-ever professional side having also represented Manchester City Ladies.
Another goalkeeper took ownership in December 2015 when Marie Hourihan joined the Club, with the stopper making 12 appearances across the next two-and-a-half seasons and providing both competition for Karen Bardsley and a crucial early education for Ellie Roebuck in the process.
Elizabeth Seasman had also worn the shirt in 2015 when she was part of three matchday squads, though she failed to make a senior appearance.
The shirt then remained vacant until the 2020/21 campaign, with US international midfielder Rose Lavelle wore it during her solitary season in Manchester.
Lavelle made 26 appearances and scored five times for City, helping us win the FA Cup in November 2020, before Shaw became our fourth number 21 the following summer.

The Jamaican wore the shirt during her first four seasons at City, establishing herself as one of the game’s greatest strikers in the process, before switching to number nine ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Now it’s Charles’ turn to wear the number as she looks to aid Jeglertz’s pursuit for further glory.
