Bunny Shaw says City’s emphatic win against West Ham has provided the perfect confidence boost ahead of another busy run of fixtures in the WSL and Europe.

The Blues’ 5-0 win at the Joie Stadium moved us back to the top of the table, with the Jamaican marking her 150th City appearance with a hat-trick.

With Chelsea held to a 1-1 draw by Everton, it was enough to move us top of the table ahead of a face-off at Stamford Bridge next Saturday.

That game is sandwiched between UEFA Champions League away trips to Inter and BK Häcken, and Shaw felt victory over West Ham sets us up nicely for that demanding run of fixtures.

She said: “We needed this going into a busy period of games. We wanted to have that confidence, and with a lot of different players scoring today as well, it’s a big result.

“It’s a busy few games coming up, but we needed this type of confidence at home in front of our fans. Games are coming thick and fast, so we’ve got to recover, look back and see what we can do.

“Yes, we scored a lot of goals, but how can we score even more and be even more clinical, because sometimes in the big games the fine margins decide the result.

“We just have to recover and then go for the next one.”

Shaw was also delighted to see Aoba Fujino on the scoresheet for the first time this season, with the Japan international playing a starring role at the Joie Stadium.

Fujino opened her account for 2026/27 with our third goal of the afternoon, before setting up Iman Beney for number four.

“I’m very happy for Aoba,” the Jamaican added.

“We’ve spoke a lot because she plays behind me, and sometimes she’s a bit hard on herself.

“I always try to encourage her and tell her to take the shot, tryst it’s going to come. She’s reaping the reward for all the hard work she’s done so far this season.”
