He joins an impressive list of homegrown players featuring this season, following in the footsteps of Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, Nico O’Reilly, Kaden Braithwaite and Ryan McAidoo.
The 17-year-old is an exciting, versatile midfielder who joined City at Under-9s and has shown amazing dedication in his development over the near decade he’s spent at the City Football Academy.
An England youth international whose brother Tyrone is also at the Club, he has excellent technical ability and at six foot tall has plenty of strength in the centre of the pitch.
He has an eye for goal as well and, if an option isn’t available, he has also the confidence and ability to carry the ball into dangerous areas.
Samba got a flavour for life in the Under-18s in 2024/25, featuring mostly as a substitute, as City went on to win the Under-18 Premier League North.
In 2025/26, Samba became an integral member of every squad he’s played for in Blue.
He totalled 24 appearances across six competitions and scored 17 and assisted six goals in those matches.
That included making his debut in the UEFA Youth League, Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.
One of his strongest performances saw Samba bag a hat-trick on his second PL2 start, helping City win 6-1 at Stoke at the end of January.
Arguably his best goal was his incredible free-kick in our 2-1 FA Youth Cup final win over Manchester United, just a few weeks after he also helped City retain the Under-18 Premier League North title.
And his senior debut is a deserved landmark occasion for the midfielder.
