Enzo Maresca was delighted to send City supporters home from Germany with all three points after a 3-2 victory at RB Leipzig.

Castello Lukeba put the ball into his own net to open the scoring for the visitors but the hosts got back into it just after the break through Ridle Baku’s cheeky cross-cum-shot from the right channel.

Enzo Fernández gave us the lead once again with a bullet header but the lead didn’t last long with the dangerous Antonio Nusa equalising with a low left-foot strike.

City won it late on with skipper Erling Haaland the match winner, producing a clinical finish from a superb Elliot Anderson centre.

And Maresca was thrilled for the travelling faithful and also happy to get back on the winning trail after back-to-back defeats.

“I am very happy for the fans who were able to be here tonight,” he told City Studios.

“Champions League game. Away. Germany. It’s always difficult so very happy with the three points, especially after a defeat. It’s always important to win the game.

“Overall, I thought the performance was good. For some moments, we struggled. For some moments, we were very good. Just learn and move on.

“The first half we were good but also in the second half we created so many chances.

“But we conceded two silly goals that we need to avoid but slowly, slowly we are going to be better also defensively.

“1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2. Most of the time you are not able to win these type of games. So very happy with the effort from the players.”
