The 16-year-old played the full 90 minutes of the game before proudly donning the captain’s armband towards the end of the second half.
After being involved with the Under-19s earlier on in the week as we faced Porto in the Youth League, it’s been a busy weekend for the defender who also headed home in today’s clash.
Dexter Oliver’s deep corner was nodded back into the box by Archie Thompson as Barrett rose the highest to head home and extend our advantage and it was something he said came straight from the training ground.
“[I’m] buzzing to be fair. [We were] working on corners yesterday in training [I] managed to score a few then and managed to bring it into the game so I’m happy,” he began.
“We had a tough first-half, could’ve scored more maybe, but yeah just had to dig in, we’ve done well [but] were unlucky to get a clean sheet.
“We’ve just got to keep the momentum going. We’ve been top every day in training but just got to keep going.”
