The summer signing from Chelsea made her competitive debut as a second half substitute in a 1-0 win at The Valley.
Alex Greenwood’s first-half free kick was enough for a fourth WSL win in as many matches across 2026/27.

Charles entered the game on the hour mark as she continues to build up her full match sharpness, but it was a great feeling to be out there for the first time this season.
“It was very nice,” Charles said after helping City maintain their perfect start in the league.
“It’s been a bit later than I would have wanted, but it’s nice to have finally made my debut, and hopefully I can kick on from here.”
While she was only on the pitch for just over 30 minutes, Charles did have a header from close range well saved by Sophie Whitehouse in the Charlton goal as City pressed for a second in South London.
However, one goal was enough to solidify our spot at the summit of the WSL, with Andrée Jeglertz ringing some changes for this game as City’s squad depth came into play.
“It’s good to get the result and win 1-0,” Charles said.
“I think it’s difficult to come to places like this when they’re going to sit very deep from the first minute, but to grind out a win and be switched on defensively is really important.
“It could have been more, but three points were the most important thing to keep the momentum going.”
