Beth Mead sang the praises of the City duo in the latest episode of the Official Man City Podcast.

The Lionesses star was the first of our exciting summer signings after she joined from Arsenal and has already slotted perfectly into life in Manchester.

Not only that but she has seamlessly fitted into Andree Jeglertz’s side which we’ve already seen in the five fixtures we’ve played so far.

Mead, who is an icon of the women’s game, has come up against her current teammates on numerous occasions, but has already put Fowler and Hasegawa in the spotlight after just a short time with us.

“There’s different situations, like Mary in small-sided games is a beast”, she said.

“Like she’s so good in small sided [games] makes it look easy. Turning, facing up, scoring goals.

“So Mary has really surprised me in that sense. Not that I’ve often seen her play five-a-side. It was 11 v 11 when I played against her.

“I was always excited by Yui, I think shes a very clever footballer, technically unbelievable and you can see that day in day out during training and it’s great to be training with her.”

Mead made her debut for the Blues in our WSL opener against Birmingham City, which saw her replace Kerstin Casparij as a 61st minute substitution.

She provided a great impact for the team as she provided the assist for Bunny Shaw to head home and she went into detail about how she felt as her name was called over the tannoy.

“It’s hard because you’re trying to zone into the game when you’re coming on, running on, and when they called my name and I could hear the fans cheer,” she added.

“It felt nice to be able to get a bit of an appreciation coming onto the pitch before I technically haven’t done anything for the Club.

“It’s a nice feeling and it makes me excited and want to play for the badge and give to the Club what I’ve tried to give for so many years in my career and I still believe I have a lot more to give and I’m excited.

“I’m in the energetic bunny stage of it all.

“Just want to get going and keep going. But it was a really nice reception and tried to get round a few people after the game but it’s so hard now to get round everyone.”
