The English goalkeeper has made the move to the reigning Barclays Women’s Super League champions and FA Cup holders from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Orlando Pride on a short-term loan.
The Oldham-born 31-year-old, who has won two England caps, was also part of the Lionesses’ victorious Euro 2025 squad.
Across her career to date, she has accumulated a vast amount of experience both from her time playing in the NWSL as well in Europe with Bordeaux, not to mention the WSL with West Ham and Arsenal amongst others.
But despite all she has achieved in the women’s game, Moorhouse said the opportunity to join Andrée Jeglertz’s star-studded squad was simply irresistible after what had been a whirlwind past 24 hours.
“[Joining Manchester City is] not something you can turn down,” Moorhouse said in her first interview with the Blues.
“You also don’t make the decision lightly, you have to think about it. But when a club like Manchester City calls, you kind of have to answer.
“It’s a new challenge, a different style of play and playing for one of the biggest clubs in England. It’s a new start and I’m excited to get going.
“I’ll sleep when everything’s sorted! It’s been a whirlwind, these past 24 hours. I got a call from my agent after training yesterday and it just moved quickly from there.
“My mum and brother were over [in Orlando] and have a flight home today, so I left them there to deal with it themselves! It’s been a crazy 24 hours.”
For Moorhouse the move to City will also see her reconnect with a number of familiar faces – not least several England colleagues whom she knows well from international duty.
Another key figure she is excited to be reunited alongside is Jamaican striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw who was her team-mate at Bordeaux.
“It’s going to be incredible to link back up and have that connection again, and have it for a longer period of time, not just ten days here or there or like the Euros,” Moorhouse added on linking up with her fellow City Lionesses.
“It’s going to be fun. I haven’t spoken to anyone [yet] to be honest, so maybe it’ll come as a surprise to them when they find out! We’ll reconnect and be happy together again.
“Bunny was incredible in France when we were at Bordeaux, and she’s only got better since then.
“She’s an incredible goalscorer and number nine, to be honest it’s not just her goalscoring ability [that makes her stand out].
“I’m excited to be on the same team as her again.”
