OPPOSING MANAGER – MARTIN DEMICHELIS
The Argentinian, who took over at the start of the season, needs little introduction to City fans after three years at the Etihad Stadium.
After a successful career with River Plate and Bayern Munich, he moved to City at the age of 33 and won the Premier League and two League Cups.
A classy centre-back he also won 51 caps for Argentina before finishing his playing days in 2017 at Malaga.
His managerial career began at River Plate where he won the title and has been in charge at Monterrey and Mallorca before being appointed as the Leipzig boss in June.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Our last meeting was at the group stage in the 2023/24 season when City won home and away – the second of those a 3-2 success at the Etihad Stadium.
City’s trip to Leipzig came eight weeks earlier when we left with an impressive 3-1 victory thanks to late goals from Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku.
Phil Foden had fired us ahead before Lois Openda’s equaliser shortly after the break before two goals in the last five minutes gave us the points.
