Team news

City make two changes for Tuesday’s key Premier League trip to Bournemouth.

From the side that began Saturday’s FA Cup final win against Chelsea on Saturday, manager Pep Guardiola brings goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and midfielder Mateo Kovacic into the starting eleven.

In what marks our penultimate game of the season, James Trafford and Omar Marmoush both revert to the bench.

City will kick off this evening lying five points behind league leaders Arsenal but with a crucial game in hand.

Victory this evening would ensure that the race for the title goes down to Sunday’s league finale at home to Aston Villa.

BOURNEMOUTH: Petrovic, Smith (C), Hill, Senesi, Truffert, Adams, Scott, Rayan, Kroupi, Tavernier, Evanilson

OPPOSING MANAGER -ANDONI IRAOLA

The Spaniard took over for the Cherries in June 2023 with a low profile on English shores, but two years on the 43-year-old is being tipped as one of the best managers in the Premier League.

Iraola had a great playing career on the pitch, reaching two Spanish Copa del Rey finals, a Europa League final and qualifying for the Champions League with Athletic Club from Bilbao.

In management, he worked at AEK Larnaca, Mirandes and Rayo Vallecano before moving to England and securing Bournemouth’s highest ever points tally in a top-flight campaign.

Pep Guardiola preview

Speaking to the media ahead of the clash, Pep said: “17 games unbeaten.

“The run is unbelievable.

“What they have done with losing three players in the back four from last season that had success and then go 17 games unbeaten is unbelievable.

“The only chance we have is to win so we have to break that run otherwise it will be over.”

PREVIOUS MEETING

City went second in the Premier League after a 3-1 victory over the Cherries at the Etihad Stadium in November.

Erling Haaland’s expertly taken brace and Nico O’Reilly’s delightful second-half finish made the difference as we leapfrogged our visitors in the table.

Bournemouth had equalised midway through the first period through Tyler Adams.

LAST TIME OUT

A moment of brilliance from Antoine Semenyo was enough for City to win the 2025/26 FA Cup after beating Chelsea 1-0.

With 20 minutes remaining in a tight and tense final, the Ghana international instinctively turned Erling Haaland’s cross beyond Robert Sanchez for one of the great FA Cup final goals.

City weathered the Chelsea fightback to seal an eighth FA Cup in our history.
