PRESS CONFERENCE

Enzo Maresca will face the media on Thursday 23 October at 10:30 (UK).

The manager will speak to journalists at the CFA and we will keep you updated with written and video recaps appearing on our digital estate later in the day, including injury news ahead of the game.

OPPOSING MANAGER - Unai Emery

The passionate coach is well-renowned for his hat-trick of UEFA Europa League titles in 2014, 2015 and 2016 with Sevilla, before winning the competition a fourth time in 2021 with Villarreal and then remarkably adding a fifth, guiding Villa to the Europa League title in May.

The Spaniard also helped Villa to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the 2024/25 season, where they were narrowly beaten by PSG over two legs.

Emery is incredibly passionate on the touchline and demands a high energy style of football, encouraging his teams to press forward with hunger and desire, so the Blues will be expecting a stern test on Saturday afternoon.

PREVIOUS MEETING

Our last trip to Villa Park was 12 months ago, and it ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat for the Blues after Matty’s Cash struck in the first-half.

The reverse fixture was the final game of the season as we bid an emotional farewell to legendary manager Pep Guardiola and fan-favourites Bernardo Silva and John Stones, with the Villains again coming out on top, this time with a 2-1 win.
