Lauris Coggin’s Under-18 Premier League North side have got off to a pitch perfect start in 2026/27.
A 5-1 win over Leeds earlier this season, in which Aiyegbusi scored City’s final goal of the afternoon, was just the start of his goalscoring glory as the 17-year-old followed up with double Derby delight on Saturday afternoon.
The Finland forward powered City ahead just minutes after the start before restoring our advantage ahead of half-time as the City number nine showcased the work he’s put in.
And the England youth international said he was delighted to score against the Rams as we look to retain the Under-18 Premier League North title.
“Lauris [Coggin] has been telling me all month that I need to be scoring to get my chance and first start I scored two goals so I’m really happy about it,” he said.
“You know, first half, it was difficult switching it, trying to get through the middle.
“But I got my first two goals, we started the game really well.
“Second-half, you know, couldn’t get my third, but happy with the two goals.”
The league games mixed with Under-18 Premier League Cup clashes have certainly tested the young blues as fresh faces find their feet.

But for Aiyegbusi, the eight deserved wins across all competitions are a testament to the work of Coggin and the striker explained how he feels ahead of our clash with the Saints.
“I think it’s really top,” he added.
“Won all games, zero losses, zero draws,.
“We’re doing really well.
“Should be at the top of the table, both groups [Under-18 Premier League North and Under-18 Premier League Cup]. So looking forward to it.
“We’re going to have to start passing around them [Southampton] because they’re bigger and stronger so it’ll be more difficult.”
