Andrée Jeglertz hopes his side can play with some freedom in Sunday’s Adobe Women's FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.

City were confirmed as the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League champions on Wednesday night following Arsenal’s draw at Brighton.

But after the celebrations, the focus has quickly switched back to challenging for more silverware with  a tough trip to Stamford Bridge to play current holders Chelsea on Sunday 10 May with a 15:30 (UK) kick-off.

The title triumph on the back of a tense 1-0 victory over Liverpool at the Joie Stadium when we only secured victory with an injury time winner from Rebecca Knaak and Jeglertz now hopes they can get back to the very best football without the nerves.

“The team no matter what, we have been top of the league since November and we have always been challenged by other teams but we have still delivered,” he said.

“I think the team has heard for a few weeks now that it’s just a matter of time before you can win the title. Of course it’s been a pressure on the group, you’re not just playing a game against Liverpool or Brighton or Aston Villa, all teams are putting everything they can to ruin it for us and make it difficult.

“Of course all these talks and pressure, of course it makes sense that the players are affected by it.

“We have been able to deal with it. We haven’t played amazing football all 90 minutes in the last games and I didn’t expect that, those in the game know it’s not going to happen.

“So with that said I’m proud and impressed with the players being able to find a winner against Liverpool, to perform on this level no matter what and turning the game against Liverpool, first half struggling second half dominating, to show we can still deliver under pressure. I’m not surprised it happened but I’m also proud we managed to turn it around.”
