Rayan Cherki has won the August Goal of the Month award for his superb first effort in City’s 4-1 Premier League win away to Crystal Palace.

With Enzo Maresca’s men already ahead against the Eagles, the French midfield marvel then doubled the Blues’ advantage in quite majestic fashion as he despatched the first of a brilliant brace that night.

Cherki demonstrated both the supreme vision and amazing technical artistry that has endeared him to the City faithful, as he first embarked on an amazing slalom run into the heart of the Palace box.

After having bamboozled an army of defenders Cherki then demonstrated his pinpoint eye for goal by despatching a quite brilliant finish, one that simply took the breath away.

It was a superb effort more than worthy of the coveted prize – and just the latest illustration of Cherki’s penchant for moments of individual magic for City.

Cherki saw off a fine list of contenders to win the award.
Josko Gvardiol’s late, late winner at home to Bournemouth along with Erling Haaland’s  second of his brace at Palace also made the short list.

Also up for contention were two of Dexter Oliver’s four strikes in his incredible showing for our Under-18s against Leeds, while Under-18s colleague Teddie Lamb also featured thanks to his decisive finish against Manchester United.

Last but by no means least EDS star Tyrone Samba was also nominated for his fine strike against Wolves.
