Enzo Maresca’s men’s first team enjoyed a superb September to remember, winning all five fixtures across the calendar month, racking up 14 goals in the process.
There were a host of memorable strikes to select from but our selections are Enzo Fernández’s maiden City goal in our 5-3 Premier League win at home to Sunderland, debutant Floyd Samba’s second effort in a 5-0 Carabao Cup third round victory at home to Norwich and Ryan McAidoo’s effort that night too which rounded off victory.
It has proved an equally memorable September for City’s women’s side too – with boss Andrée Jeglertz’s squad winning all four Women’s Super League games and claiming a fine 2-2 draw away at Bayern Munich in our UEFA Women’s Champions League opener.
The three contenders from Jeglertz’s team are Bunny Shaw’s second strike in our opening day 3-1 home win against Birmingham, Mary Fowler’s effort in a fine 4-1 win at Aston Villa and skipper Alex Greenwood’s pinpoint free-kick which secured last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Charlton.
A trio of fine contenders from our Academy sides also make our shortlist.
Teddie Lamb’s effort in our UEFA Youth League opener away at FC Porto, along with Dexter Oliver’s fourth strike and Timeo Whisker’s first in our Under-18s’ emphatic 6-0 win at Everton also up for consideration.
